01.28.08: Lights Out!
|
 Have you taken down your Christmas decorations yet? I was out driving over the weekend and noticed that a few homes and businesses still have their Christmas decorations up and turned ON! While it's always pretty, don't you think it's time they came down? And if you can't take them down because the weather is awful maybe you could save some electricity and not turn them on.
I understand that this winter has been an exceptionally snowy, cold one and that it hasn't been a priority for most people to stand outside on a ladder dealing with strands of tangled lights with 20" of snow on the roof just above their heads about to slide down in 20 below wind chills. Most of us are more worried about the ice dams building up in our gutters and how we're going to dig out the mound of snow the plows left behind at the end of our driveways.
But.....if we let the holiday lights linger through the winter....what will have to look forward to come next November when it'll be time to flip the switch on them again. Let's all cut out paper snowflakes or little pink hearts and start decorating for Valentine's Day. Besides the cold....love is in the air..........
