Last week I received an email from a soldier in Iraq. He said he likes to stream WOLX before he goes to bed over there. When it’s 5pm here it’s 2am in Iraq.
It really got me to thinking about our troops. I wonder how much we really do think about them in our day to day lives. Yes, the economy is horrible. This winter has been hard. Our unemployment rate is rising while the housing market is still on a downward spiral.
And yet, we have all these people who have chosen a brave profession. These are true patriots who still believe in our United States of America and the freedoms we have. They have a difficult job everyday with no end in sight. At least for the next ten months. We all have to wait and see what will happen in this election year.
In the mean time, I wanted to take a moment to salute each and every person who serves our country. I appreciate and respect you. Thank you.
Please take a moment to send an email to my pen pal in Iraq. His name is Dean Buellner. His email is www.specialops28@yahoo.com He’s a local guy who won’t be able to come home until November or December. I can only imagine how hard it must be over there. I’m glad he reminded me of that.
Thanks for sending him an email just to say hi and to thank him for being a soldier. We all need a friendly smile from a stranger once in a while.
