3/24/08 Easter
|
I made it back to my hometown of Potosi this past weekend for the Easter holiday. I always love going back to my hometown to visit with old friends and spend time with my family and relatives. I always have a good time, and I always run into somebody that I haven't seen in years! I ran into about twenty people I haven't seen in YEARS Saturday night. It's hard to move away from your hometown, but the people there can still kind of connect with me because they hear me on the radio everyday, and now they can see my picture on television every day. So it's almost like I had never left. But when they do get to see me in person, you would think that I was Johnny Depp filming a movie in Darlington.
People go crazy over celebrities, even a minor one such as myself. (Blush) Hey-- I have signed autographs before! I've even had a woman faint on me, when she found out who I was. I'm kind of a big deal. Ope. Anchorman quote.
Now, the serious part of my blog today. I was sitting around the dinner table Easter Sunday, and I started a deep thought process. Yea, it's true, sometimes I think deeply. The hamster was working overtime. Here was my all important conclusion---
What do jellybeans, colored eggs, baskets, fake green grass, peeps, and a bunny have to do with Jesus being crusified? Or even Santa Claus having to do with Jesus' birthday?
I think it is great that these holidays bring people together, but sometimes, I just have to ask, "Why? I had a vivid imigination and my humor section of my brain went wild as I tried to connect a bunny with Jesus. We call the bunny Peter Rabbit, and one of Jesus' disciples was Peter. Maybe he was a rabbit? Just trying to put it all together...;) I have a weird since of humor, I know. |
