 Golden Globes, golden schlobes.
This year, more than others I thought the Golden Globes were especially dumb. They are already a lame awards show becasue they are handed out by the snobby and exclusive Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Its not the voice of the people, or at least the voice of fellow actors.
Not only that, their biggest categories are "Best Drama" and "Best Comedy or Musical." How can you judge comedies and musicals together? They are too varied of categories and it's stupid to group them together.
Since the Golden Globes are thier own business monster these days, they only exist as a parasite to the film industry. I'm especially glad the Writers Guild put pressure on actors and actresses not to show. It worked, making the Globes even less than thier normal mediocre selves. They wouldn't even exist without the creativity and genius of the filmmakers and the Globes shouldn't be able to benefit from a movies success like they do. Lets not have the Globes next year.
A nice alternative to this all is to go see the movies, but don't pay attention to the awards. If you must, here's the 2008 winners. |
