Wisconsin Film Festival - That's a Wrap!
Here\'s some reflections from my experience at The 10th Wisconsin Film Festival. I went into the fest with great hopes. I had eight films I was going to se over the four day run, but unfortunately, I came down with a nasty bug at exactly the wrong time.
So, I rested as much as possible and get out to five of my picks. It was a battle, but it was worth it.
Since most of these films are independents, your best chances of seeing any of them (should you choose) is a rental or put it on your Netflix queue. I\'ll let you know if they're worth it.
- British TV Advertising Awards - Literally TV commercials from across the pond. You won\'t find them as a rental, but you can check out the website. Some are very funny, some are very dramatic public service announcements.
- Ben X - An intense drama about an autistic teen who is ridiculed by his classmates. Ben lives in an online gaming world to escape. In the real world he contemplates suicide, but his online experience helps him cope. A decent rental with a great ending. My favorite of the festival.
- Bon Cop Bad Cop - A silly buddy cop movie just like Lethal Weapon light. A little over the top. Rent it if you've got nothing better to do and don\'t mind French subtitles.
- White Night - A Dutch film about a crooked real estate financer that accidentally kills a man. The act weighs so heavy on him, that he\'ll give and do anything to right his wrong. Sometimes intense subject matter that probably isn't worth the rental.
- Sixty Six - A lighthearted comedy about a Jewish boy in 1966 England, who finds out his Bar Mitzvah is the same day as the World Cup Finals. He comes to terms that his big day doesn't rival the big sports day. Very funny and worth your time. Rent it!
There you have it. The 11th Wisconsin Film Fest is just 360 days away. |
