On Tuesday a listener called and said that for people who are going to the Packer game this weekend, one was a friend of hers keeps her feet warm is to put a little bit of cayenne pepper in her sock.(If you do this, soak your feet in milk NOT WATER to get them clean.)So when I was searching the web for other ways to stay warm I came across this experiment on Highlightkids.com.
The experiment is to show how seal lions, artic seals, and other animals who live in frigid water stay warm enough. For the experiment all you need is a glass of ice water and a jar of peanut butter.Coat one of your fingers with the peanut butter, then put that finger and another finger in the cold ice water. The finger with the peanut butter should stay warm, and the other finger should feel the cold more easily. The explanation is that is because there’s fat in the peanut butter to insulate the finger and keep the heat in.
I’m not suggesting to rub peanut butter on before going outside this weekend, but I thought I might put some at least on my lips when I go finish shoveling the drifts in my driveway today when we are at least in the double digits.(Protecting and tasty!)
