Much better last night on American Idol. It was 80s night. I thought that even some of the guys who didn’t have the best vocal performances still had fun performances. I would say the only performance I didn’t like was Danny Noriega. It wasn’t necessarily because of the song or the vocals, I just think he has too much attitude. I know Simon can be a jerk, but most people listen to what Simon says and when they disagree, they do it with dignity, not spouting text code language (Whatever it’s called) back at Simon.
My favorite of the night, probably because I didn’t expect to like it, was the rock version of Lionel Ritchie’s “Hello.” When they said it was coming up, I thought there was no way that song would sound good all rocked up, but it did! (Watch David Cook below.)
If I was the one to choose who goes home it would be Danny Noriega and Luke Menard. I like Luke, he’s a great guy, but at this point you have to choose the best to continue on. Luke has a fine voice and stage presence, but of the final 8 guys, I would rate him as #7.
We’ll find out Thursday night how America voted and who stays.<br>
