Somehow I think my son would have been sadder if it was his Guitar Hero III that I put down the disposal...
While thoughtfully cleaning the kitchen last night I unknowingly committed mayhem on my son Max's orthodontic retainer. While I did notice some signs that I had ground up something inappropriate in the garbage disposal, it wasn't until today that I figured out what it was.
Last night there was a high-pitched, metallic grinding sound coming from the bottom of the disposal. Soon as I heard it I stopped it, but couldn't find anything in the disposal. Ran it again, same thing, checked again, nothing. Ran it again, sound disappeared, and I figured whatever it was, it's now gone. Until this morining.
My wife just called me here at the station asking if I had seen Max's retainer sitting in the bottom of a glass (soaking in vinegar for cleaning). Saying "no," I asked where it had been. "On the counter in the kitchen," she said. "With all the dirty dishes I cleaned up?" I followed. "Uh huh," she said low, implying "you idiot" without saying it.
So we're going to the ortho on Monday.
And how does Guitar Hero III fit in? Well, Max didn't seem too upset about the loss of his retainer. But if it had been his Guitar Hero III... that might have been another story. See the video for blending goodness...
