Text your vote for President? Yes, you would do it.
At least that's what the survey says.
No, this isn't Richard Dawson giving the results of a survey done for Family Feud. Rather, it's the results from a survey done by Samsung Mobile, including most age groups of likely voters (except for oldest voters, which I figure they thought would skew results).
But what the survey says is that more than 60% of us would be comfortable sending our vote for President via text message. That kind of wows me.
While I think that we're all constantly looking for ways to use technology to make our lives easier and more fulfilling, I personally don't have the respect for the system (neither the technological nor the political) to feel that I could trust that all of our votes would be counted properly. And that tears at me a bit.
I'm an enthusiastic grabber of new technology, new ideas and new personalities if there seems to be a reasonable chance that they will be an improvement or help achieve growth. But somehow I feel like the voting process should be a public one (albeit a private decision sent within the public setting of the polling place). Then again, if it were easier, and less public as it certainly would be if we could text a vote, maybe we'd get the kind of voter "turnout" that they get for American Idol.
