Here's my President of the United States....

Don't laugh. This man is wise, intelligent, funny, caring, and full of human flaws like the rest of us. And he likes to fish. How perfect!

While he never has and probably never will run for public office, he has been my President of the United States for all of my life. Who is he? He is my dad, Marty.

We're going up north fishin' together next week. This time in May is always a good time for walleye (but then again, when isn't it a good time, at least for trying?).

Every year we anticipate this trip with the hope of catching many big fish, but more importantly with the certainty that we'll have some fun time together scratchin' and burpin' and talkin' about the one that got away.

I know that there are term limits, even for my President, so I cherish each trip more than the last.

For President

Dad never wanted to be President. "No room for advancement." Who was the smartest president? Dad would have beat them there. He was our walking encyclopedia, a pre-Internet resource. I think he'd have a heck of a time on the computer for all that it offers. I just liked being with him. I used to be his assistant in anything, building the boat, remodeling the school bus for one cool camper, moving to and from school, vacations, fishing and such. It was even better with his 'Chief of Staff, Mom.
